Definitions. Macro vs. Close-up

The term true macro is used where an image of photographed subject projected on the digital sensor (or on the film) is equal in size (1:1) or larger. Close-up range is from 1/10 life size on sensor (1:10).

The terms are often used very loosely. Close-up is used to mean macro and vice versa
